Pilgrimage, the Journey to Christian Unity

7 - ll May 2005
Rome and Nettuno

The pilgrimage begins with the Annual Festival of our Lady of Grace at Nettuno, where the famous image of the Blessed Virgin is the original statue rescued by sailors from the Shrine of Our Lady of Ipswich and brought to Italy at the time of the Reformation. The visit by members of the League, led by the Anglican Priest in Charge of St Mary at the Elms, where the restored shrine of Our Lady of Ipswich has its home, is by special invitation of the Prior of the Sancuary at Nettuno. The restoration of the Ipswich Shrine is especially devoted to Mary as Mother of the Church and therefore the example of complete Unity in Christ.

After a weekend in Nettuno, there will be two days in Rome, in solidarity with the call to the visible unity of Christians made by Pope Benedict. Fr Haley Dossor, priest of St Mary at the Elms, writes, 'We pray that all who come on this ecumenical pilgrimage will find Mary as the one who leads us to the unity we are commanded to seek.'

The cost of the pilgrimage, staying in 3 star accommodation on half board terms, is £655 for a single room and £590 for a shared room. Further details and booking forms are available from Fr Dossor by email or phone: 01473 216484. Full details on the St Mary at the Elms website.
