Unitas - Apostleship of Prayer

The Apostleship of Prayer

'The prayer of all Christian souls in the universe is not the mere sum of all feeble desires that seek God separately from so many isolated hearts on far sundered shores. In Christ all prayers meet. As the sea draws all rivers of the world to its heart, so the prayer of Christ draws all Christian prayers into itself and lifts them all, united with the majestic tide of his own prevailing intercession, to the Eternal Father.' (Fr George Congreve SSJE)

Prayer is the regular spiritual work of Unitas, the Catholic League, to pray for the Unity of Christians. All prayer requests, intentions and thanksgiving can be addressed to the Spiritual Director:

The Revd Colin Patterson,
St Mary Magdalen Vicarage,

Daily Prayer - Monthly Intentions

Daily Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ,
you said to your apostles,
'Peace I leave you; my peace I give you.'
Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church;
and grant her the peace and unity
which is according to your will;
who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.

By your power Lord,
gather together your scattered flock
under the one authority of your Son:
that the design of your love may be accomplished
and that the world may know, the one true God,
and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. Amen.
(Prayer by Fr Paul Couturier)

We pray for...

  • Pope Benedict XVI
  • Religious communities and their future growth
  • The Catholic League's Director, Fr Brooke Lunn, and the Executive and their work
  • All linked by our community of prayer for unity, especially isolated members and their witness and intercession

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

to experience the suffering caused by division,
to see our sin,
and to hope beyond all hope. Amen.

apostle of Christian Unity.
